Goalden Gate SuperDraw Now Cancelled Due to COVID-19

Goalden Gate SuperDraw Now Cancelled Due to COVID-19

Gary Thomas31 Oct 2020 - 08:03

Town hit with more bad news as our our newly launched Goalden Gate Superdraw is cancelled

After months of positive work with the Goalden Gate team we has been informed that due to COVID-19 the parent organisation has been forced to rebrand the draw

We have been informed that the draw will be relaunching as Wolves Lottery which will only be committed to helping Wolverhampton and the local community improve. The weekly lottery is now solely aim to ensure that funds raised goes back to helping the people of the Black Country through supporting local charities, the funding of grassroots sport or the development of young people within football.

Pontardawe Town FC, like many other clubs (including Bath City, Cefn Druids and others) have therefore been given 30-day notice period and the organisation will be writing to all members to notify them of the change.

This is massively disappointing news to us as a club who, as have many grassroots organisations, been hit substantially by COVID-19. The Goalden Gate draw was an exciting prospect for us and had already been well received

The loss of our famous Football Festival has had a massive impact on our revenue as have many other cancelled events. We are still required to pay the FAW for competition entries and player registrations as well as maintain our ground with no real sign as yet of football restarting

The club will now focus on other revenue generating opportunities

If you can help in any way we would love to hear from you. We would welcome new volunteers, new ideas, new sponsors and of course any donations which can be paid through our giving page
