A tough encounter in North Wales but through to the Semi Finals

Town travelled to the Wrexham area in the knowledge that the game was definitely going ahead despite the weather. An early decision on Friday to move the game to The Rock (Home of Welsh Premiership team Cefn Druids) turned out to be an excellent one which made sure the game went ahead. Town's players, in the main, had travelled up the night before with Steven Reeve and Josh Dorward joining the lads after a 3 hour plus journey on Saturday morning .

In decent, but windy conditions, Town made a great start against Plas Madoc who have been an excellent season including an unbeaten league campaign so far. After just a few minutes keeper Steven Reeve found Josh Dorward who scored to calm the nerves and put the visitors on the front foot. It wasn't going to be an easy game, none of the previous games had been, and this was confirmed on 15 mins when the home side went close with a 20 yard free kick.

Town though had made a decent start and scored a second on 30 minutes when a cross from Garry Taylor was headed down by Liam Griffiths for Kurtis Rees to strike home.

The game was really scrappy but Town held out until half time to take a 2-0 lead into the break but had lost Josh Dorward to injury late on and he was replaced by Dan Briggs.

Plas Madoc started the second half well and on 56 minutes they were awarded a penalty after a foul by substitute Christian Evans who had earlier replaced the injured Tyler Aylward. Up stepped Nicky Williams to score and bring the hosts back into the game. Immediately though Town went on the attack and Liam Griffiths went close with a strike that hit the bar.

Liam Griffiths then got his reward, and Pontardawe Town's third, as he scored in the 76th minute but the lead was short lived as just 4 minutes later Plas Madoc scored their second of the game (Scorer tbc). It was a cracking game by now and minutes later Town went up the other end and Liam Griffiths got his second and Town's 4th.

Plas Madoc battled to get back in the game but the Town lads were resolute in defence and held out to secure the win and they now move into the Semi Finals which will take place on March 16th

The QF results were :-

Llangefni Town 0-1 Bodedern AFC
STM Sports 2-1 Penydarren BGC
Plas Madoc FC 2-4 PontardaweTown
Corwen FC 3-5 Cefn AlbionFC

So for the Final Four - 2 clubs from Welsh League, 1x Welsh Alliance, 1 x Welsh National League

Well done to Andrew Stokes, Richard South and all the lads for a great win after a long trek .... the draw is Monday night !

Thanks to our hosts for the game and we wish Plas Madoc all the best for the rest of the season
