An exciting game at the Recreation Ground saw the home side run out 3-2 winners against 10 men Pontardawe Town
Pontardawe were forced into a change at keeper which saw Filip Lyscik return after injury whilst Ammanford's Rhys Fisher and Ben Soal were playing their 400th and 300th game for their club
The game started at an excellent pace with both sides looking dangerous in attack as Pontardawe played down the slope in the first half. On 22 minutes Harri Lawson was given a yellow card for a badly timed tackle on former Pontardawe Town player Jordan Langley. On 20 minutes it looked like the home side would take the lead but the chance went wide. Soon after though Rhys Fisher celebrated his 400th appearance with the first goal of the night.
Pontardawe took only a few minutes to respond as Iwan McNab crossed from the right and Rio Booth's involvement saw the ball come to Harri Lawson and he smashed it home from close range. Just on half time Rio Booth broke into the box and was brought down allowing Lewis Reed to strike the ball home despite a great attempt by the home keeper. Pontardawe went into the break leading 2-1
Not long after the second half started Pontardawe nearly got a third through Mikey Morris but his strike hit the post and came out. On 55m the game was turned on its head when Harri Lawson was sent off somewhat harshly by the match referee who was slowly starting to frustrate the visiting players, coaches and supporters. Despite the protests Pontardawe Town were down to 10 men which gave the home side a boost and 10 minutes later Ben Soal, celebrating his own milestone, slotted home the leveller on 65 minutes
It got worse for Pontardawe 7 minutes later when a Lee Trundle free kick seemed to take a deflection of the wall and rolled into the path of Ben Soal who scored his second of the night giving Ammanford the lead.
Garry Taylor, Pontardawe's Manager, made some changes which gave the visitors a lot of energy as they bravely took the game to Ammanford despite being a man short. The home side remained dangerous though and it took a great save by Filip in goals to keep the game at 3-2
The game finished with Pontardawe's young side on the attack but it wasn't enough and the home side celebrated the 3 points
Pontardawe now face Cambrian & Clydach on Saturday at Parc Ynysderw and we be looking to bounce back from this defeat
