After a few weeks of inactivity due to postponements it was a Pontardawe Town team that looked a little rusty as they went into the game at Abergavenny Town on a miserable Gwent evening
It was a bad start for the lads as the home side were awarded a penalty in the first minute which they put away to take a 1-0 early lead. It didn't take long for Town to equalise as on 15 minutes after a Callum Silcox free kick fell to Joe Lloyd who calmly beat the keeper from close range
It wasn't a great game with the visitors struggling to get their normally fluent game together and the home side not really offering too much.
On 31 minutes Callum Silcox sustained what looked like a nasty knee injury and he was replaced by Mikey Morris. We all wish Callum a speed recovery
Pontardawe improved in the second half with Mikey Morris looking dangerous on the right. The home side were fortunate to stay at 11 men after their centre forward took out Mikey Morris whilst already on a yellow card but for reasons known only to himself the referee allowed the player to stay on the field. Morris got his revenge after some great work he fed Joe Lloyd who scored his second of the game
The home side threw everything at the visitors and after they hit the bar, following a good save by Nathaniel Osborne they had penalty shouts waved away by the referee.
The game ended in dreadful weather conditions but with Pontardawe taking home all 3 points in Garry Taylor's 50th game in charge
