Town hit 5 in the league once again

Gary Thomas10 Aug - 20:48

Town win at Cefn Cribbwr scoring 5 goals for the second consecutive game

After a tough defeat at Cefn Cribbwr last season the lads knew this would be a difficult fixture despite Cefn Cribbwr's dissapointing start to the season.

The home side showed their potential early in the game without really troubling Nat Osborne in the Town goal. Then, in the 13th minute, Josh Dorward showed great determination to win the ball back in midfield and the ball worked its way out to Jenson Stone. He crossed low for Kyle Copp to smash the ball home for his first goal in Town colours. This was exactly what the Town deserved and they could have extended the lead through Steve Berry's superb strike which just went over the bar. In the 43rd minute the excellent Jenson Stone's strike was on target and it gave the keeper no chance to give Town a 2-0 advantage nearing half time. In added time Town add a 3rd after good work by debutant Sam Harrison who forceful run deserved a goal but the ball found its way to Will Thomas who slotted it home.

The home side came out determined to get back into the game and Town dropped off a bit but it was the visitors who got the next goal in farcical circumstances. Ben Scannell was called offside but with the ball at the home keeper's feet the referee waved play on. The keeper then passed to the centre half who picked it up and a free kick was awarded to Town. Whilst the home side were arguing with the referee the alert Ben Scannell fed substitute Jake Barrow who, on his second attempt, netted his 3rd goal of the season

Cafn Cribbwr got a goal back in the 81st minute through Marlowe as Town switched off but Ben Scannell netted his 6th of the season, and Town's 5th of the day, with a sweet strike from the edge of the box

A cracking win which puts the Town top of the division as travel to face Evans & Williams on Tuesday night in a 1st v 2nd clash
