Town came into the game knowing that 4 wins out of the last 5 remaining games would see them face the runners up in the east division in a play off for promotion. That had to be put at the back of the minds of everyone as Ynysygerwn arrived in good form despite a defeat at Penrhiwceiber Rangers last time out.
Town started the game well and were dominating posession against the visitors. Will Thomas had a great chance early on but he wasn't able to beat the goalkeeper. Town were looking really sharp especially down the flanks with Jake Barrow and Jesse Meacock tormenting the Ynysygerwn defence. On 34 minutes they got their reward when referee Tiefion Cook awarded Town a penalty which Kyle Copp put away for his 19th league goal of the season
Town lost the excellent Ollie Nedza at half time to injury and he was replaced by Jordan Cullen. Town then continued to create the better opportunities but to be fair to Ynysygerwn they were looking more dangerous after the break. It was starting to look like the penalty would end up being the difference between the teams until Jesse Meacock went on another run and his cross, come shot, was hit home by Will Thomas who was having an excellent game. That good, he was immediately replaced by Jordan Stallibrass so that's why I am not a coach !!!
Town were looking comfortable and worthy of the win until the 80th minute when Jesse Meacock was harshly adjudged to have kicked out at his opponent by the assistant referee. Neither team had complained so it was something over nothing but, nevertheless, Meacock was shown a Red Card and will miss the next 3 games. The club are in discussions as to whether to appeal against the decision so watch this space.
The game ended with Town securing the win but with the harsh red card being the main discussion point
