Goytre United were off the back of some mixed results recently but with proven goalscorers and some former Town players in their match day squad this was always going to be a tough encounter.
Town looked sharp straight from the off in perfect weather and on a great surface and they got their rewards when Referee Kevin Delgado awarded the home side a penalty when Kyle Copp was brought down. Up stepped Copp to take the penalty and he slotted it home comfortably to give Town a deserved lead. Town continued to dominate proceedings and went close on a few occasions until Luke Roberts's strike from a corner put Town 2-0 ahead on 34 minutes. The home side could have been 3 or 4 up at half time but further chances weren't taken.
The visitors were a much better side after the break and took the game to Town. They got their reward through a home goal by Town's substitute Jordan Stallibrass who put through his own net on 75 minutes. Things then got very nervy for Town who lacked the fluidity of the first half. On 85 minutes some great link up play between Kyle Copp and Josh Dorward saw Dorward slot home with only the keeper to beat.
That should have been that but Goytre United didn't read the script and on the 90th minute Keane Watts headed home for close range. Town though held out for the remaining 5 added minutes and took the 3 points that their performance overall deserved
