After a confusing 24 hours with regards the guidance from the FAW on hard surfaces this game went ahead after a final morning inspection by referee Kevin Delgado.
Town and Newport City started the game with identical records but it was the visitors who proved to be the strongest of the two sides. They took an early lead with a header from Jake Wilson and then Tomos Lynch extended the lead to 2-0 after the home side failed to clear. It wasn't one way traffic to be fair as Town were creating chances but never really troubled Harris in the City goal.
The second half started better for Town a they fought for an equaliser but were undone by another mistake as the ball was given away and as the ball came over to the unmarked Lynch he got his second with a superb finish on the volley. It got worse 10 minutes later when subsitute Ellis Sage poked the ball home from close range.
Town never gave up and searched for what would be a consolation goal but it never came adn the visitors took the 3 points back home
