Pontardawe Town slipped to their third successive defeat in a difficult game against visiting Caerau (Ely). The game was definetely affected by the strong win which was at the back of the visitors in the first half.
After 5 minutes the visitors took the lead as a cross into the Town box was put into his own net by Tom Grey as his clearance spin off his leg giving keeper Dion Carroll (0-1)
It was a terrible start for the home side and it got worse on 11 minutes when the visitors had corner next to the changing rooms. It was taken by Dan Hooper and his corner caught the wind and evaded everyone as it ended up in the net (0-2)
The visitors were enjoying themselves now and were controlling the ball. Town's first real chance came on 25 minutes when Oliver Schofield broke through and his strike was well saved by Elliot Matthews in the Caerau (Ely) goal.
Just ask it looked like Town would go into the break two goals behind another bizarre moment saw Tom Grey hook the ball from in front of the dugouts into his own net. A confused Dion Carroll was unable to deal with it and visitors went into the break 3 goals up (0-3)
The second half was a more even affair but it wasn't the best game to watch with only two chances of note. Town nearly got one back through Liam Griffiths but his strike was well saved by the excellent Matthews. The visitors nearly extended their lead on 76 minutes through Josh Spencer but he failed to score.
The predicted heavy rain was just arriving as the referee brought proceedings to an end and left Town looking over the shoulder after some of the teams behind them picked up valuable points.
