Pontardawe Town ended their run of defeats with a brilliant first half up at league leaders Monmouth Town and in doing so gained revenge for the 2-0 defeat at Parc Ynysderw in February

Town got going early on and there was great build up outside the box with Town moving ball quickly resulting in great interplay with Liam Griffiths, Josh Dorward and Kurtis Rees which saw Rees’s shot saved but Declan Horgan-Evans was on hand to follow up with a 5 yard tap (0-1)

Minutes later after a great pass by keeper Steven Reeve it was Josh Dorward who who brought the ball down superbly to run in and slot the ball past the home side's keeper (0-2)

Town were dominant by now and got a 3rd goal which was the goal of the game from Josh Dorward who beat two men and curled his shot into the top corner (0-3)

Surely they couldn't score again but they did and some outstanding pressing by Declan Horgan-Evans saw him win the ball wide and run with it into the box to square to Kurtis Rees who rifled his shot from close range into top corner (0-4)

As the half came to an end the scoreline should have been been 5 but for a brilliant save from Monmouth keeper to stop Josh Dorward scoring his hat-trick. Then a pretty poor decision by the officials saw Pontardawe's Tom Blizzard get a goal disallowed after a brilliant lob from 25 yards went into the net only for it to be deemed incorrectly offside.

The second half was a more even affair and despite a few chances for Pontardawe Town the home side responded with a goal early on in the half and then a late penalty (2-4)

The day though belonged to Pontardawe Town though who next week travel to Newtown to face Bodedern Athletic from Anglesey in the FAW Trophy Semi Final (4:30pm)
