It was an experienced Goytre FC side that visited Parc Ynysderw who were unbeaten in all competitions in the season so far
The early rain had gone and the game was played in good sunshine but with a strong breeze which favoured the visitors in the first half. It was a slight advantage that they revelled in and they went on to dominate the first 20-30 minutes of the game . A host of chances came and went for them but on 20 mins they got the goal they deserved through Jason Thorn who hit a great strike from 30 or so metres which went over keeper Steven Reeve's head into the net.
Town suffered the loss of Tim Georgievsky on 28 minutes and he was replaced by Josh Doyle. By this time Town had woken up and were starting to create chances with Callum Silcox going close on 30 minutes. Town had to be careful though and the visitors nearly got a second but captain Craig Davies was on hand to clear off the line.
On 42 minutes Town got the equaliser following a quickly taken free kick was picked up by Josh Doyle who put a perfect pass through for Callum Silcox to break into the box and confidently beat keeper Luke Wallace
The second half was only minutes old when Town had a chance to go into the lead but despite a head on goal by Josh Doyle the visitors were able to scramble the ball clear. The rest of the half was an even affair with both sides playing some very good football in an entertaining game.
In the last minute Goytre FC thought they had won the game but for keeper Steven Reeve to pull off a fine save and, following a clearance from the resulting corner, Town broke and an excellent ball across the goal nearly found the lunging feet of Callum Silcox but the chance went wide and the official, Wayne Neal, brought the game to a close
Another improving performance from Town who remain unbeaten at home. Town travel to Bridgend Street in Cardiff next week who ended the day on top of the table.
