Pontardawe Town Reserves welcomed back Arwel Rees for his first performance of the season and gave young Declan Evans his first senior start. Both players went on to star in a decent performance in strong winds
Ponty opened the scoring following an exciting Declan Evans run and he found Brad Cooze who beat the keeper with a fine strike (1-0). Then came another quick goal this time from Matt Coley (2-0) and Ponty look very comfortable.
Aberdare, to their credit, didn't lie down though and got a good goal back (2-1) only for Cameron Hopkins to immediately recover the 2 goal advantage for Ponty before half time (3-1)
In the second half Aberdare were the better side for the first 20 minutes and despite some good goal keeping by Ben Thomas they pulled another one back (3-2)
Ponty then woke up and pulled clear with goals from Arwel Rees, Cameron Hopkins and Brad Cooze although in between Aberdare got another goal (6-3)
At the end referee Ben Kathrens witnessed Ponty's centre half Joe Farthing head butt one of the opposition and gave him a red card
