After last playing way back on December 5th a rusty Reserves took the field against Goytre United and overall it was a very good game to watch.
Town looked on top early on but after Steven Hughes scored on 22 minutes the visitors immediately capitalised on a defensive error to equalise. Christian Evans will fight it out with Niall Thomas after Evans scored direct from a free kick although Thomas is claiming he got the final touch (where is Phil Govier and his camera when you need him!!!). Yet again defensive laps let Goytre United back and half time came with the sides level at 2-2.
The second half was a much better affair for the home side as they were fitter and faster than the visiting side. As a result Town went on score 3 further unanswered goals. Steven Hughes got another 2, with one being a penalty, to finish the game with the match ball (although Jason Dykes won't give it to him) and substitute Alex Giardelli got the other goal.
Full credit to Goytre United who have joined the league and to their young keeper Callum Rees who for me was Man of the Match.
