It was a freezing cold and windy night at the Swansea University playing fields but despite that the Reserves put in a massive shift despite having only 12 players
Against a very good footballing side who were probably more used to the elements the lads played with great confidence and commitment. A first half wonder strike by Declan Evans gave Town the lead who were playing with the gale force wind at their backs. The teams turned around without any refreshments, and boy did the lads deserve a hot cuppa at half time, and it was sometimes backs to the wall as the young and skilful University side took the game to them.
In fairness though they didn't create many true chances and only once they brought keeper Dion Carroll into action and he pulled off a tremendous save with his feet.
But as the referee added time on for substitutions, and also for returning the balls as they kept going off down to Mumbles, the lads succumbed to a late goal as the University lads broke down the left and the cross evaded the visiting defence for substitute Ben Tegg to slot home
It was a really gutsy performance by the lads with standout performances from many. A special mention for Marc "Crampy" Jones who fought on bravely for the back end of the second half despite suffering from cramp
A very proud performance by a great bunch of lads
